Final Party Fun

Pee Wee A Black celebrated the season's end Feb. 19 at Powder Ridge Winter Recreation Area north of Kimball. Tubing, food, thank yous and player plaques rounded out the agenda. Visit the gallery for slide shows from the team banquet and sliding hill. See you next season.

Thank You for Helping Black

Thank you to anyone who served Pee Wee A Black this season. Special thanks to Gregg Stanley, Nick Sparby, Joe LaPlant and Brad Wheelock, who coached our kids through thick and thin. The season would not have been possible without the financial contributions of our sponsor, Geyer Signal. A list of volunteers -- including Manager Laurie Seifert-Kissner -- is available in the top-left corner of this page. Give our supporters a hug or a handshake when you see them.

Jon Stanley scored the opening goal in the waning minutes of the second period. Brandon Anderson had the assist. St. Cloud out-shot the Bluejackets 31-24. Charlie Lenzmeier saved 21. Cambridge-Isanti recorded 16 penalty minutes and lost its Fair Play point. See the District 10 standings.

A 1-1 Tie With Anoka

Fourth at Alexandria Tournament

Black earned fourth place in the eight-team Alexandria Area Hockey Association Pee Wee A Tournament Feb. 3-4 in Alexandria. St. Cloud beat Crow River 6-5 in the opener, then lost 3-1 to the Grand Forks Wheat Kings and 6-5 to the St. Paul Highland Central Capitals. Among the many highlights:

  • a game-winning, breakaway goal by Ryan Kissner in game one
  • Ben Honer's hat trick -- including a penalty shot -- in game three
  • a goal apiece and two incredible defensive shifts by the Brandon Anderson-Jon Stanley-Shayn Goenner line in game one
  • team members playing catch with a football on Lake Le Homme Dieu with the wind chill at minus 40-degrees Fahrenheit
  • Brenda Schermerhorn and Julie Wood dancing the electric slide with a father from the Farmington team
  • shots-on-goal parity in games two and three

Visit our gallery for two photo slide shows from our weekend in Alexandria.
